Born in Kufstein. After graduating from high school, Geier studied German and History in Innsbruck, graduating in 1990. In the late 80s, Geier gained his first experiences in private radio and print. In April 1996 he was hired by ORF at the first regional studio Tyrol. In May 1999 Geier hired at Vienna Ö1 Radio domestic politics department.
